- In 2006, the Breakfast honored Hispanics who risked their lives on the battlefield and Hispanic fallen heroes.
- In 2007, Aurora’s Hispanic men and women who paved the way for those who serve in public safety, commanded center stage.
- Last year, we honored the first businesses and organizations that established in Aurora before 1980 and influenced Aurora’s progress.
This year, Aurora Alderman Juany Garza and Aurora Hispanics Pioneers Committee invite you to honor the achievements of the first teachers in Aurora.

The Hispanic Pioneer Breakfast has been a wonderful addition to Aurora’s community events. This event not only honors Hispanic Pioneers, it allows for the pioneers to be remembered by our future generations. This breakfast is a means for the community to learn about the history of Hispanics that helped shape the community we work and live in. Knowing who the first settlers were: war heroes, public safety officials, business owners and now educators piece together who we are as a community and the direction we are going.
The City of Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board has a vision that we will help educate and promote activities/events that will teach the community about Hispanic individuals who are and have made a difference. This event truly highlights what our vision is for our community as history is remembered by those who lived it, those who remember it and those who will continue to pass our history on.
Hats off to Alderman Juany Garza and her Ward 2 Committee for having the vision of beginning this worthwhile tradition. This is their 5th year organizing and presenting this event, which ensures that the accomplishments of Aurora’s earliest Hispanics are recorded in Aurora history.
