Please join us as we commemorate the City of Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board’s
This special event will take place on Friday November 4, 2011 from 6:00p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the David L. Pierce Art & History Center, 20 East Downer Place, Aurora. Our featured speakers for the evening will be Patrick Perez and Delia Nila Basile. Tickets for this one time event will be sold at the door: $10 for adults, free for children 17 and under. Admission includes live music and hor d’oeuvres. A cash bar will also be available. (All proceeds benefit the Hispanic Board Scholarship Fund).
This exhibit is highly relevant in our rapidly-growing area as Mexicans in Kane, DuPage, and Illinois make up the largest immigrant ethnic group, and Latinos in the United States are the fastest growing ethnic population. This exhibit features historic images from the Wall of Memories from the Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board (AHHAB). There are also images and accounts, first gathered by the Board in 2001, that tell the story of Aurora’s early Mexican immigrants. Additional Aurora-related materials will also be included and all text panels and labels are in English and Spanish.
Advance tickets may be purchased directly from any AHHAB member.
